The Conference regard to the beginning of implementation of the cross-border project “’’Protection observatory for regional area of medicinal plants as lively cross-border infrastructure of sustainable tourism (PORALIST) ” was held on April 23rd, 2019 in Bjelo Polje. Funds secured for the project are EUR 261,426.00. The Project is co-funded by the European Union and implemented by NGO Multimedia from Montenegro and Regional Development Agency Zlatibor from Serbia in partnership with the Institute for the Study of Medicinal Plants “Dr Josif Pancic” from Belgrade, within the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Serbia -Montenegro 2014-2020.
Conference participants were addressed by Anita Beriša, Coordinator of the IPA Cross Border Cooperation Program Serbia-Montenegro Cross- from European Integration Office Director of the RRA Zlatibor, Slavko Lukić, and project manager in Montenegro, Željko Đukić, who presented the results and activities of the project.
The purpose of the project is to contribute to the protection of the environment through responsible management and use of natural resources. Also, additional contribution will be achieved through utilization of preserved natural resources and the use of medicinal herbs in the function of achieving profit and priorities of socio-economic development.
Through the project activities and with joint efforts in the field of environmental protection, the civil sector, citizens and tourism workers plan to speed up the transition to sustainable consumption and production of medicinal herbs and their presentation as an attractive common tourist product in the field of gastronomy.
