On June 4–6, was took place in Rzeszów (Poland) – an international conference organized by the Ministry of Investment and Development.

The main topics of the debates were cross-border cooperation and the role of local self-governments in stimulating regional and local development. Part of the session within the Forum is organized in cooperation with the NALAS network – the Network of Associations of Local Authorities of South-East Europe.

The event was organized as part of the Polish presidency of the Berlin Process – an initiative supporting regional cooperation of the Western Balkans and a complementary policy of the enlargement of the European Union.

The one session concerned international territorial cooperation. There were discussions on the experiences and role of local self-governments in stimulating regional and local development. Within that session, partners from the project ”Textile Recycling for Sustainable Solutions-ReTex” presented project outcomes. Project ReTex was founded by EU funds under the IPA I Cross-border Cooperation Programme Serbia-Montenegro. The presented project was praised with good comments and reaction of the participants.

Also, The Forum was a meeting of cities and regions, high level representatives from the countries covered by the Berlin Process, representatives of the European Commission, the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Committee of the Regions, project beneficiaries, representatives of local government units and non-governmental organizations. The Forum was host a high-level Session on support for the Western Balkans in the process of European integration and economic transformation.
