The Second National Conference within the ‘Youth Start-Up’ project was held in Sjenica on March 20, 2025. At the conference, young people from Sjenica and Pljevlja presented their business ideas. The project partners are the municipalities of Pljevlja and Sjenica and ‘ADP-Zid’ from Podgorica.
Mr Konstantinos Soupilas, the Pogramme Manager from the EU Delegation in Serbia, stated that the project’s main idea is to increase the employability of young people entering the labor market for the first time.
„From the activities of this project which aiming to increase employability and foster the creation of working places for youth in the cross-border area, young people who are the main beneficiaries but also local authorities (municipalities), Education institutions , Civil society organisations, Local businesses Local communities are receiving support. During the implementation of this Cross Border Co-operation Programme, EU is not just a donor, but a dedicated partner for the co-operation of the countries for the benefit of the citizens living in this border region. The European Union has been investing in cross-border cooperation for more than 30 years via the EU funded Programes as Interreg and IPA CBC. Through these investments, much has been achieved to enhance cross-border cooperation and alleviate border obstacles.“ – said Soupilas.
The president of the municipality of Sjenica, Mr Munib Mujagić, emphasized that this project lays a foundation for the future.
„We hope that, among other things, this program will result in several successful start-up companies, benefiting Pljevlja, neighboring municipalities, and Sjenica—primarily the individuals who take on these ideas, but also everyone around them, as good ideas must spread and multiply,“ said Mujagić.
The „Youth Start-Up“ project is being implemented in the Serbia-Montenegro cross-border region, covering the municipalities of Sjenica, Prijepolje, Nova Varoš, and Priboj in Serbia, as well as Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, Rožaje, and Petnjica in Montenegro.”
