Overall objective:  Contribution to the valorization of tourist potentials and capacity improvement of the holders of tourist offer in the program area
Specific objective(s): Increased tourist attractiveness of the program area through the creation of a new tourist route between Niksic and Novi Pazar and boosting the capacity of tourism providers in 8 municipalities of the program area
Estimated results: 1.1 Improved tourist offer of the cross-border area by creating a new route, launching a tourist info point in Niksic and equipping existing tourist sites

1.2 Strengthened capacities of tourism representatives in the cross-border area through educational events and the establishment of a cross-border tourism network

1.3 Increased level of information about the new tourist offer through the development of a mobile application, promotional video, brochure, and the organization of two cross-border pilot tours

Achieved results:

Result 1.1: Improved Cross-Border Tourism Infrastructure and Route Development

  • A new cross-border tourism route of 300 km was mapped, documented and promoted, connecting Nikšić (Montenegro) and Novi Pazar (Serbia) and passing through municipalities in the cross-border area.
  • A Tourist Information Point was established in Nikšić, providing visitors with information on attractions, cultural heritage and tourism services along the route.
  • A tourist catamaran with a capacity of up to 15 passengers was purchased and put into operation on Lake Gazivode (Novi Pazar), enriching the tourism offer of the destination.
  • Eight information boards featuring maps of tourism resources and the route were installed in eight municipalities within the cross-border region.
  • Four changing cabins were installed at recreational areas on Lake Krupac (Nikšić) and Lake Gazivode (Novi Pazar).
  • Two modular bicycle rest systems, equipped with benches, bicycle parking facilities and toolboxes, were installed at Lake Krupac and Lake Gazivode

Result 1.2: Strengthened Capacities and Cross-Border Cooperation

  • A total of 9 capacity-building events were organized, including four two-day educational modules (8 training days) and one academic conference dedicated to tourism development and cross-border cooperation with 158 participants from the public, private and civil society sectors
  • 119 participants successfully completed structured educational programs 
  • A cross-border partnership network was formally established through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation
  • The network brought together 17 organizations, including 8 local self-governments, 8 tourism organizations and 1 regional tourism organization, strengthening institutional cooperation across the border area.

Result 1.3: Enhanced Promotion and Visibility of the Cross-Border Tourism Product

  • Two promotional tours Nikšić – Novi Pazar were successfully organized
  • 50 representatives of tourism organizations, travel agencies, media, NGOs and partner institutions participated in two promotional tours.
  • A tourist flyer, promotional video and mobile application were developed to promote the new cross-border tourism route and provide visitors with route information and attractions.
  • The route and project results were further promoted through two articles published in leading travel magazines in Montenegro and Serbia.
