On December 29, 2021. the NGO FORS Montenegro delivered equipment for the protection and rescue services of Berane, Bijelo Polje and Petnjica in Berane within the project “Let’s be prepared” funded by the European Union within the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Serbia – Montenegro 2014-2020, and co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration, Digital Society and Media in Montenegro. The partner in the Republic of Serbia is the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia – Sector for Emergency Situations.
The project aims to improve the capacity of institutions and services from Montenegro and Serbia that deal with protection and rescue to prevent fires and floods and mitigate their consequences, as well as inform the population of the cross-border area about reducing the risk of disasters.
During the handover, two rubber and two aluminium boats, four boat engines and two trailers for transporting boats, as well as personal protective fire fighting equipment worth 30,000.00 euros, were handed over to the rescue and protection services.
On behalf of the European Integration Office, Government of Montenegro, Ms.Tatjana Bošković, Head of Department for Horizontal Affairs and EU Strategies, addressed the audience, thanking all beneficiaries for successful project implementation.
On behalf of the project coordinator of the NGO FORS Montenegro, Veselin Sturanovic, Executive Director, stressed that this project contributes to improving the capacity of protection and rescue services in the cross-border area of Serbia and Montenegro, while on behalf of the Municipality of Berane Mr.Darko Stojanovic, thanked all partners for their participation in this important cross-border project.
