In order to improve young people’s knowledge about climate change and renewable energy sources within the project “Reducing the impact of local communities in the cross-border region of Serbia and Montenegro on climate challenges – WE CAN” a series of educational workshops in primary and secondary schools in cross-border area Serbia and Montenegro were organized.
Workshops were organized in six primary schools and one secondary school. At the workshops, about 250 pupils and students had the opportunity to get acquainted in the introductory part with the concept of climate change, the main patterns of the greenhouse effect, models for reducing negative climate change, including renewable sources. In the second parth of the workshops, the members of the project team discussed with the pupils and students about climate change, renewable sources, and the possibilities for individuals and local communities to reduce the negative impact on the climate and the environment.
At the same time, the workshops were an opportunity to consult pupils and students about their needs and interests in environmental education, in order to prepare a curriculum for environmental education.
In addition to the realization of workshops, leaflets with a topic of climate change were distributed in all schools and the project content was presented.
