The introductory conference of the project “Thematic journey through the corridor of cultural and natural heritage of Serbia and Montenegro – Creative Twinning” was held on March 15, 2022, where the goals, activities and results of the project were presented. The meeting was opened by Dr. Predrag Terzic, Mayor of Kraljevo, and the speakers at he conference were: Danijela Vicentijevic from the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Katarina Grujovic Brkovic from the Institute for Cultural Monuments Kraljevo, Svetlana Vujicic from the Center for Sustainable Tourism Initiatives Podgorica and Lucija Vasiljevic from the Regional Agency for Spatial and Economic Development of Raski and Moravički districts.
The speakers presented the project, examples of good practice from Serbia, Slovenia and Montenegro, the importance of the Creative Twinning project and cross-border cooperation for the region and cultural heritage, cultural tourism in Serbia and ‘storytelling’. The topics rounded off the essence of the project content and 39 participants gained insight into cross-border cooperation activities, new knowledge and competencies, which can improve their work.
Then, on March 16 and 17, 2022, a training on sustainable management of cultural/natural heritage was held, which was attended by representatives of local governments. Together with the expert, Dr. Branko Krasojevic, the following topics were realized: sustainable management and management of tourism impacts, sustainable tourism in protected areas, trends in ICT technologies and cooperation and partnership of the public sector with academia and (non) governmental organizations. The topics were harmonized with the content of the project in order for 20 participants to gain the best knowledge for future work with the project results.
The project is implemented by the Regional Agency for Spatial and Economic Development of Raski and Moravički districts from Kraljevo together with a partner, the Center for Sustainable Tourism Initiatives Podgorica. The total value of the project is EUR 351,279.99, of which the EU contribution is EUR 298,409.99.
