With the aim of contributing to the protection of the environment in their local communities, the Municipality of Gusinje and the Municipality of Ivanjica procured new containers for waste disposal during August 2023 as part of the project “Clean Community for Sustainable environment and nature – CLEAN”.
The municipality of Gusinje has additionally equipped the existing infrastructure for the waste disposal by acquiring 10 containers of larger dimensions, which until now did not exist in the territory of this municipality.
On the other hand, the Municipality of Ivanjica has installed seven new underground containers, because it is recognized that these containers enable the successful and rational organization of collection, sorting, treatment and disposal of municipal waste, which improves the operation of the system and significantly improves the quality of the environment.
All purchased containers will be delivered to the target groups, those are, to public utility companies from both municipalities.
In the following period, the municipalities of Gusinje and Ivanjica will procure specialized vehicles for the collection of municipal waste, which will further improve the work of public utility companies, and thus contribute to the protection of the environment in these communities.
The project “Clean” is implemented by two municipalities within the framework of the IPA Cross-border cooperation Programme Serbia – Montenegro 2014-2020, which is co-financed by the European Union, i.e. the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia, Department for contracting EU funded programs (CFCU).
The implementation of the project began on December 24, 2022 and will last for two years, until December 23, 2024. The total value of the project is 389,635 euros, of which the contribution of the European Union is 330,800 euros.
