Pluzine, 11.03.2024. – A press conference and presentation of the “Via Ferrata CLimb to Unveil Beauty of Piva and Ibar (Via Ferrata CLUB)” project, which is co-financed by the European Union as part of the financial instrument of pre-accession assistance through IPA II Cross-border Cooperation Program Serbia – Montenegro 2014-2020, was held in the hall of the Cultural Center of Plužine, Municipality of Plužine, Montenegro,
The project is jointly implemented by the Municipality of Plužine, Montenegro and the Municipality of Tutin, Serbia, InTER, Serbia and the Regional Park Piva with the aim of contributing to the use of tourist potential and improving cross-border cooperation between the communities of Montenegro and Serbia. Specifically, the project will improve cooperation between the municipalities of Plužine and Tutin through the use of natural resources for the development of complementary and attractive products and services in the field of active tourism.
The president of the Municipality of Plužine, Slobodan Delić, the president of the Assembly of the Municipality of Tutin, Fazila Fezirović, and the project coordinator, Dragiša Mijačić from the Institute for Territorial Economic Development InTER, spoke at the conference.
The President of the Municipality of Plužine thanked for the financial support of the European Union and pointed out that he is looking forward to cooperation with the Municipality of Tutin to improve the tourism potential of the two municipalities, as well as that this cooperation will continue in other sectors and directions of development.
The President of the Tutin Municipal Assembly thanked the Municipality of Plužine for the opportunity to partner and pointed out that she hopes that the project will achieve the planned results, improve the tourist infrastructure and contribute to the faster economic development of the municipalities of Tutin and Plužine, through the creation of new tourist offers, especially in active tourism.
The expected results of the project refer to the introduction of a new tourist product in two municipalities – Via Ferrata paths that will be located in attractive locations. Also, the capacities of youth at the local level to provide guide and rescue services on mountain trails will be improved. The results of the project relate to the promotion of Via Ferrata among tour operators, outdoor/mountaineering clubs and potential visitors, as well as to increased visibility of cross-border cooperation and project results in the public.
The implementation of the project started on November 1, 2023 and will last for one year, until October 31, 2024. The total value of the project is € 288,643.10, of which the European Union’s contribution is € 244,798.21.
