European Week of Regions and Cities is an event that has been held for the 18 year in a row. During that week, representatives of cities, municipalities and regions gather in Brussels to present their capacities to create growth and jobs for the implementation of EU cohesion policy and emphasize and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good governance in Europe.

This year, European Week was held from the 5th to the 22nd of October. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and health and safety measures, most of the 500 sessions were entirely in digital format.

The project “Skilled Women’s Workforce for a Better Future”, implemented within  the Cross-border Cooperation Programme Serbia-Montenegro 2014-2020, was presented at the European Week of Regions and Cities as an example of good practice within the Cooperation Project as a driving force for women’s empowerment. The project was presented within the topic of Cohesion and Cooperation, and the presentation was made by Dijana Knezevic, project manager.

The overall objective of the project is contribution to increasing the employability of unemployed women and their access to labour market. The project is implemented by the Home for the Elderly Bijelo Polje in cooperation with the Center for Social Work Novi Pazar, the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare   of Montenegro.
