To learn from others and at the same time to be an example of good tourism practice was the essence of of the Study Trip organised by the Center for Protection and Research of Birds (CZIP) from Podgorica and the Regional Tourism Organization Sandžak from Novi Pazar in cooperation with other project partners from 17 to 20 October 2022 within The Hoo Project: Creation of Owl and Other Wildlife Experiences. The event took place in the cross-border area that includes 8 municipalities in Montenegro and Serbia: Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, Berane, Petnjica, Rožaje, Tutin, Sjenica and Prijepolje.
Participants of the study trip were tourism stakeholders from both sides of the border between Serbia and Montenegro. Getting to know tourism offer of the area and visiting each other during this 4-day event, they were both guests and hosts and exchanged experiences, knowledge and ideas in that way. Encouraging the strengthening of cooperation in tourism, the protection of valuable intangible heritage, the strengthening of awareness of the importance of natural heritage and the protection of wild species this event contributes to the improvement of tourism offer of the cross-border area.
The Hoo Project: Creation of Owl and Other Wildlife Experiences is implemented by the Center for the Protection and Research of Birds (CZIP) from Podgorica and the NGO North Land from Berane, on the Montenegrin side of the border, and the partners in Serbia are the Regional Tourism Organization of Sandžak (RTO) from Novi Pazar and the Citizen Association “Jadovnik” from Prijepolje. The project is funded by the European Union, within the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Serbia-Montenegro 2014-2020, and co-funded by the Ministry of Public Administration of Montenegro.
